Paolo May: Art, Travel and Visions from the Mediterranean to the World

Welcome to the world of Paolo May, an artist born in Naples and adopted by Ischia, but above all a citizen of the world. From travels across five continents to deep roots on the green island, his art blends painting, sculpture and writing into a unique, ironic and surprising language. His works, exhibited in Italy and abroad, tell the story of the creative freedom of someone who has made art not just a profession, but above all a pleasure.

HIS PHILOSOPHY

IRONY, TRAVEL AND ART FROM THE HEART OF ISCHIA

"I believe that authentic art is born from the continuous dialogue between life and imagination, between irony and curiosity that drive us to travel and explore. My language blends painting, sculpture and writing, transforming emotions and stories into unique works intended to make people smile, reflect and dream. From the Island of Ischia to the rest of the world, each work is an invitation to see reality through your own eyes."

Irony and Freedom

Art is never just about aesthetics, but an invitation to smile, reflect and have fun. In his works, irony and lightness coexist, essential elements for seeing the world from a different perspective.

2

Ischia and the Mediterranean

Paolo draws inspiration from the Island of Ischia and the Mediterranean, transforming colors, landscapes and traditions into unique works that blend local roots with a universal language.

3

Travel and Universality

From Italy to Russia, from America to Africa, every experience leaves its mark on his work. Travels become stories and visions that enrich an art capable of speaking to everyone.

HIS BOOKS

"Trentadue pillole e diciassette racconti"

ixya-negombo

“Trentadue pillole e diciassette racconti” is the latest literary work by Paolo May, a delightful mix of stories, thoughts and reflections, all introduced by the most sincere opening one could imagine:

“Boh, non lo so. Dipende”

With the free and unpredictable spirit that also defines his artworks, Paolo blends irony, everyday life and imagination into a collection that entertains, surprises and invites reflection.

And it is not the only book he has written. Before this, he published titles such as “Dal Tanganica al Titicaca” (2021), a journey through memories and distant lands; “Amore e terra. Racconti fantastici” (1996), a collection that intertwines dream and reality; “Terra e amore. Manuale di ceramica” (1996), reflecting his artistic experience; and “Nuvole di fantasia. Dalla scrittura al fumetto” (2005), a creative bridge between words and drawing.

A diverse production, just like his soul as a sculptor, traveler and storyteller, capable of moving between art and literature with the same intensity.
