An expressive red wine from Ischia, made from Piedirosso and Aglianico grapes grown in the east-facing Vigna di Levante, where the morning sun enhances its character.
Terrazze di Levante IGT Epomeo Rosso by Cantine Antonio Mazzella is a red wine from Ischia with a distinctive Mediterranean character. It comes from the Vigna di Levante, an east-facing vineyard where the first rays of the morning sun help the grapes ripen and give the wine its expressive personality.
It is made from 85% Piedirosso and 15% Aglianico, two red grape varieties closely linked to the winemaking tradition of Campania. The wine is produced through red vinification, with the skins left in contact with the must for 5-6 days and fermentation carried out at a controlled temperature to preserve balance, aroma and varietal identity.
After vinification, the wine ages in steel for up to 12 months, followed by a further ageing period in French oak barrels for 8-10 months and then in the bottle. This process gives Terrazze di Levante structure, elegance and a more complex aromatic profile.
In the glass, it shows an intense red colour. On the nose, it offers notes of red fruit with delicate spicy nuances. On the palate, it is dry, pleasantly tannic and well defined, making it a red wine suited to flavourful Mediterranean dishes.
It pairs beautifully with traditional dishes based on red meats, game and rich, savoury recipes. Serve at a temperature of 12-14°C. Alcohol content: 13% vol.
